Front Interior of Mini-Shuttle bus
Twin Coach Motor Company manufactured buses and trucks. The Twin Coach truck was manufactured in the Ohio area but most of the trucks were sold to customers in California. One of the biggest customers of Twin Coach was Helms Bakery. They had a special designed interior bread storage rack built into the back area of the body and had a special tune horn that they used as they came down the residential streets to let the people know that the Helms Bakery Truck was coming.
After Helms went out of business in the late 1960’s a lot of their trucks got junked and a lot went to different people to fix up. This truck body was customized to be like a shuttle type mini bus and the power train had been replaced with a Ford in line 6-cylinder engine with a Ford-O-Matic transmission. The wheels of this truck are different also. You can see all of the brakes internal parts thru the spoke wheels. There is no brake drum as we know the normal brake system. There is just the brake surface of a drum and it is welded to the inside of the wheel spokes.
