1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Hard Top
2 Door Hardtop
After we were married about four years, I bought a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Four-Door Hardtop from a friend. We used it for many years to pull our camping trailer on week-end campouts or on vacation trips. It was this same color, had an automatic trans, power steering but no power brakes. I added a Hydro-vac later on to give us power brake assist. Since we had so many good memories with our original 1957 Fairlane, I decide to look for one like we had.
I found this car at the 2000 Fall Hershey Show in the Car Coral. It is only a two-door Hard Top compared to the four-door that we owned before. It has a Super Thunderbird 312 V-8 engine. It had three two-barrel carburetors on it when I bought it but I have since replaced them with the factory four-barrel carb and intake manifold that was in the trunk. This car was completely refurbished by the former owner who lived in the Greencastle, Pa. area. He did the work at his split level house in the attached garage. This included the painting of the car. The car has won the AACA Junior 1st Award and the AACA Senior Award.
