The 1954 to 1956 Ford F-100 pickup trucks are my favorite pick trucks. This is the second 56 F-100 truck that I have. I’m a fan and believer in owning and restoring vehicles to the OEM standards that they were built. By buying this truck, it goes against everything that I have done in the past. It’s the good color of red that really looks great on these trucks and the price was reasonable for the work that was done on it. I am going to try to raise the front end a little because it can scrap on some dips.
I found this truck on the Internet. It was in Virginia. There were things that needed to be done by the Seller to complete the deal. There are some things that we still want to do to bring it up to my standards. The Restorer took a 1954 Oldsmobile dash and did a great job of installing it in this truck. The engine is a Ford 302 fuel injected engine with a ¾ cam shaft. It has power brakes and because of the ¾ cam, an electric vacuum pump had to be installed to provide the vacuum to operate the power brakes. It has power steering and a Ford automatic transmission. The upholstery and headliner were professionally installed. The cover for the cargo bed is different. The restorer took a roof panel from a Ford Expedition and fitted into the side rails of the bed. It is heavy and doesn’t flop around while driving.
Even though it isn’t restored to OEM condition, I think I can enjoy having it in my collection. I know it won’t be anything that I can show at an AACA Meet/event but my Grandsons like it. I know it will be driven by a variety of my family on different occasions.
