1962 Divco #10
Stand/Drive or Sit/Drive
This truck looks a lot like the 1956 model #15 Divco. The reason I bought this truck was to show the engine selection availability. This truck has the four-cylinder engine and the 1956 Divco has the six-cylinder engine. The Stand & Drive mechanism is the same in both trucks but they have different reverse gear positions in their transmissions.
This truck is colored different than Rutters Divco trucks because I didn’t want two painted the same. When you look at my1934 DeSoto Airflow Car, you can see the similar design of the two vehicles. To make them look more like each other I painted them both red with burgundy fenders. When they are side by side, the grilles, headlights and fenders look so much alike. I have them pictured as a family of Divcos in another section of this Web Site. Included in that family picture is the mini Divco that I have painted and lettered like this Model #10 Divco.
The name of Sunshine Dairy, the slogan and color scheme, painted on this truck is purely fictional. I dreamed it up around noon on a Wednesday and by Friday evening the Sign Company had the decals made and we had the truck lettered. This was in preparation for the 2006 ATHS Show in Baltimore, Md.
