1988 Lincoln Mark VII Coupe
This car has no connection with any cars that have been in the family over the years or anything real special about it historically. I just always like the styling of this year and model of the Lincoln Continental.
Lincolns have come in all different sizes and style over the years. Some of the Sedans are real long boats. The 60’s & 70’s Continentals have been long and wide. The late 90’s Continentals changed to the point that I didn’t like them. The 1988 Mark VII is a nice size car as far as the width and length is concerned. In other words they are easy to drive and get around without taking up lots of space. This model has the 302 cu. in. engine that gives you a good acceleration and at the same time fairly reasonable mpg. The engine compartment isn’t crowded with a big 460 cu. in. engine like my 1970 Mark III and this car runs cooler than the Mark III. I like the looks and handling of this Lincoln model and year.
This car isn’t a Show Car but it is a great driver. It has 62,000 miles on it and is a solid car. My plans are to use it as a weekend driver and take it on some Club Auto Tours. It has all of the conveniences and comfort but still is consider a Classic Car. It took me a while to find the exterior and interior color that I like. I now have a nice luxury Classic Car to enjoy driving.
